You don’t see it, but you definitely feel it working each time you arrive safely at your destination. So, what’s the secret keeping your engine running smoothly? It’s your Mobil 1 engine oil. Mobil 1 engine oil fights sludge, protects your engine against wear and even improves fuel efficiency! But that’s not all. Read on to find out the key benefits of The World's Leading Synthetic Engine Oil.

Mobil 1. Outstanding Protection. Proven Performance.

Image
It takes the world’s top car manufacturers three to five years to develop a new model from scratch. After so much time and effort, they’re unlikely to settle for anything less than the best oil for their high-performance engines. From day one, Mobil 1 is the first choice engine oil in more than 70 high-performance vehicle models. And, the reason? Outstanding protection and proven performance. Before it hits your engine, each drop of Mobil 1 is subject to up to 20,000 hours of rigorous testing. All to ensure an oil formula that perfectly matches your engine’s needs for efficiency and power. Designed at the molecular level and enhanced with a proprietary additive system, Mobil 1 motor oils provide outstanding engine performance for your vehicle, even in the most extreme conditions. Proven performance That is why, since the 1970s, Mobil 1 has been actively involved in motorsports at all levels, from grassroots racing all the way to 600 championship races – and count...

What Happens if Dirt Gets In Your Engine?

Image
What would happen if you ran your vehicle without an air filter? Your engine needs air for the combustion process. Ambient air is filled with particulate matter—dust, dirt, pollution, pollen, and so on. Without an air filter, that floating debris can contaminate and damage pistons, cylinder walls, and even the MAF sensor. How does dirt damage cylinders and pistons? If dirt or particles enter the cylinders, they can grind between the pistons and the cylinder walls, which will degrade both the piston rings and the walls themselves. If the cylinder walls and piston rings wear down enough, the damage can prevent the rings from sealing—allowing combustion gas to leak into the crankcase (otherwise known as blow-by). Damaged pistons can cause your engine to fail If your engine is experiencing blow-by, the combustion efficiency will be significantly reduced—and you may notice smoke coming from the exhaust, sluggish acceleration, and an increase in the amount of oil that yo...

Mobil 1™ Syn Gear Lube LS 75W-90 Made in USA Supreme Performance Synthetic Multi-Purpose Automotive Gear Lubricant Features and Potential Benefits Mobil 1 Syn Gear Lube LS 75W-90 combines wax-free synthesized hydrocarbon base oils and a specially designed extreme-pressure, limited-slip, sulfur-phosphorous additive system to help provide a significantly higher level of performance in rear axles and differentials versus conventional fluids. Great film strength at higher operating temperatures, reduced fluid friction and low-temperature application down to -50ºC helps to provide significant advantages versus conventional mineral oil formulations. It helps to reduce wear and spalling under the high speed, high torque and high horsepower conditions in competitive racing and high performance automobiles. This unique, high technology final drive gear lubricant has demonstrated outstanding performance including fuel economy, extended drain, long-term friction retention, low-temper...

Engine Oil and Fuel Efficiency: Getting the Most from Your Engine

Image
Rub your hands together long enough, and you’ll start to feel a buildup of heat. The same applies to the components in your vehicle’s engine. To work smoothly, they must work closely in tandem while generating intense heat. The harder your engine works, the more fuel it has to burn to compensate for the energy lost through heat and friction. When this loss of fuel is repeated and multiplied through decades of driving, it adds up to a significant financial loss. Now the choice of minimizing this waste comes down to your choice of engine oil. The right oil will reduce friction by lubricating contact points so that components don’t need as much energy to work smoothly. Using an oil with the right viscosity improves your engine’s performance, significantly extending its life. So, what role does engine oil play? The best engine oil for newer engines A lower viscosity, full synthetic engine oil such as the Mobil 1TM 0W-20 Advanced Fuel Economy can keep your engine ...

Engine Oil 101: Choosing the Right Oil for Your Car

Image
We know how it feels when you get a new car. If you could, you’d bubble wrap everything to keep it in pristine condition. Well, there is one way to keep your car performing like new without going to such extremes – engine oil! But why would a new car need engine oil? Well, even high performance race cars like Porsches and Corvettes use it from day one – and more specifically, Mobil 1. Beyond improving fuel consumption, engine oil optimizes engine performance and keeps it running for longer. Now before we delve into the nitty-gritty of engine oil, go ahead and pull out your car owner’s manual. In it, you’ll find clear guidance on viscosity, certifications and specifications that the manufacturer recommends for your engine. If all this is new to you, don’t worry. We’ll start you off with the basics of engine oil. Viscosity Think about honey and water. When you pour them from a cup, both liquids flow at different speeds. That’s viscosity! For engine oils, viscosit...
