Honda CR-Z with K&N Air Intake Cranks Up Power and Performance

By unveiling of a new sport hybrid coupe for the North American market, Honda blurred the lines between performance and environmental responsibility with the 2011 and 2012 Honda CR-Z. Complete with a 1.5L i-VTEC engine and Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) hybrid-electric system, this uniquely designed hybrid is geared for the driver looking for a way to both protect the environment and have a little fun on the road.
K&N shares these same ideals by offering washable and reusable high flow air filters and intake systems that cut down on disposable filter waste while adding power and performance. The new Typhoon Air Intake System does just that for the Honda CR-Z. The intake comes complete with a free-flowing mandrel-bent aluminum tube and oversized high flow X-Stream top air filter, all in a ready to install bolt-on system for your CR-Z.
"The Honda CR-Z is a new vehicle platform and required new development of major kit components," says K&N Performance Kit Manager Bert Heck. "A new intake tube was developed for the  kit utilizing a reduced volume area in the mass air sensor location to retain factory drivability while increasing horsepower." Heck also reported the development of a new heat shield and mounting brackets to protect the air filter from direct-radiated heat and to provide a durable mounting location for the intake tube and air filter assembly. Heck and the K&N intake development team utilized the factory lower fresh air duct and airbox mounting locations. Over 160 dyno runs and many miles of on-road testing went into the development of the kit to verify the great performance differences that this intake kit can make. The estimated power gain of the kit when installed on a 2011 Honda CR-Z with a 1.5 liter engine is 4.7 horsepower at 5049 rpm.

This single upgrade to this kit replaces the factory airbox and is guaranteed to add horsepower and torque to your CR-Z, while providing easier airflow and excellent filtration to protect your engine. This kit is equipped with a K&N X-Stream top air filter, which is designed with K&N's multi-layered oiled cotton gauze media and will only require servicing up to every 50,000 miles depending on driving conditions. This kit is also backed with an industry leading 1,000,000 mile limited lifetime warranty for peace of mind, while you and your CR-Z are protecting the environment from waste and boredom.
